1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, or using the EditPDFree website at https://www.editpdfree.com (the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and EditPDFree ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

EditPDFree provides free and premium online tools for processing PDF documents, Word documents, images, and other file formats. Our tools include, but are not limited to: merging, splitting, compressing, converting, editing, signing, watermarking, and protecting documents.

All file processing is performed entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript technology. Your files are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. This browser-based architecture is a core design principle of our Service, ensuring maximum privacy and security for your documents.

3. User Accounts

You may use many of our tools without creating an account. However, certain features, including Premium subscriptions and usage tracking across sessions, require you to register for an account through Firebase Authentication (using email/password or Google sign-in).

When creating an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
• Maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate.
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials.
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You must be at least 16 years of age (or 13 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable minimum age) to create an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Free and Premium Tiers

EditPDFree offers two service tiers:

Free Tier

• Access to all tools.
• Maximum file size of 100 MB per file.
• Up to 3 tasks per day.
• Maximum of 5 files per batch operation.
• Advertisements are displayed on the site.

Premium Tier

• Maximum file size of up to 4 GB per file.
• Unlimited daily tasks.
• Unlimited files per batch operation.
• No advertisements.
• OCR (Optical Character Recognition) functionality.
• Priority support.

Premium pricing and current subscription options are listed on our Pricing page. We reserve the right to modify pricing, features, and limitations of either tier at any time with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Process, create, or distribute any content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable under applicable law.
• Infringe upon the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights of any third party.
• Upload, process, or distribute files containing viruses, malware, trojans, or any other malicious code.
• Use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or other automated means to access or interact with the Service without our prior written consent.
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
• Attempt to circumvent any usage limits, security measures, or access controls.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account and access to the Service.

6. Intellectual Property

The EditPDFree name, logo, website design, user interface, code, and all related content, graphics, and materials are the intellectual property of EditPDFree and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service without our prior written consent.

Your files belong to you. We claim no ownership, license, or rights of any kind over the files you process using our tools. Since all processing occurs locally in your browser, we never have access to your file content at any time.

7. Privacy of Your Files

When you use EditPDFree to process a document, the file is loaded into your browser's local memory, processed using client-side JavaScript, and the result is generated on your device. At no point during this process is any file data transmitted over the internet. We cannot and do not access, read, copy, store, or share your files. When you close the browser tab or navigate away, all file data in browser memory is discarded.

8. Payment Terms

Premium subscriptions are processed securely through Stripe. By purchasing a Premium subscription, you agree to the following:

• Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select.
• Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• All payments are processed by Stripe. Your payment information is handled directly by Stripe in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. We do not store your full credit card number.
• Prices are displayed in the currency shown on the Pricing page. Applicable taxes may be added based on your location.
• We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes will take effect at the start of the next billing period after the notice.

9. Cancellation and Refund Policy

You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time from your Account page or by contacting us at contact@editpdfree.com. Upon cancellation:

• Your Premium access will continue until the end of the current billing period.
• No further charges will be applied after cancellation.
• After the billing period ends, your account will revert to the Free tier.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, EDITPDFREE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR RELIABILITY OF ANY RESULTS OBTAINED THROUGH THE USE OF OUR TOOLS. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL EDITPDFREE, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY EUROS (EUR 50), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless EditPDFree and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (d) any content you process using the Service. This indemnification obligation will survive the termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service, including your account, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, for any reason, including but not limited to a violation of these Terms or any applicable law.

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through your Account page or by contacting us at contact@editpdfree.com.

Upon termination: (a) your right to use the Service ceases immediately; (b) any active Premium subscription will be cancelled (refunds are subject to Section 9); (c) provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will remain in full force and effect.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in France.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also be entitled to use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform, available at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, it shall be severed from these Terms. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions, which shall continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and EditPDFree regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, proposals, and agreements, whether oral or written, between you and EditPDFree. No waiver of any provision of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such provision or any other provision.

17. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or a prominent notice on our Website. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you should discontinue your use of the Service.
